Plan for the New Hospital

The new WVU Kids hospital will have 150 beds and state-of-the-art medical facilities that include a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a Pediatric Acute Care Unit, and a Pediatric emergency department. It will also have an advanced pediatric imaging facility, a birthing center, and an advanced specialty capabilities center. Moreover, the new hospital will have a pediatric cardiac catheterization lab and an interventional radiology lab. The new hospital will have the equipment to diagnose and treat heart problems, cancer, and blood disorders. They are also planning to have an accessible and modern medical office building, an on-site pharmacy, a cafeteria, and a gift shop.

The Need for Children’s Healthcare

There is a need for a provider of quality healthcare for children in Morgantown. This is because 70% of the babies born or transferred to the city are considered high risk.
